Tonio K. “Can’t Stop” Notes From A Lost Civilization

At this point in time (to me) Western music was ruling the world. MTV had changed everything. And this guy came along and said “No.” (speaking of cool) “You don’t define it. I do.”

I thought I would never play an album as much as Romeo Unchained, until I got this one. (Thanks Tim!)

“Stay” Tonio K. Notes From A Lost Civilization (1988)

This album was more commercial and did not quite have the arthouse feel of his first What? Records release. However, very compelling production from T-Bone Burnett , and as always incredible songcraft.

My fiancee (now wife) left for college about the time I was playing this song on the radio.

Tonio K.’s real name is Steven M. Krikorian, in the 1970s, he recorded two albums with Buddy Holly’s original band, The Crickets. | more

“I handle Snakes”

Tonio K. ‘s 1986 album Romeo Unchained was played until the grooves wore out. One of the world’s best songwriters this album is not only distinctly 80’s, it still remains current. A must for any collection. Every song is well crafted.
