Secret Ambitiong by Michael W. Smith

Young man, up on the hillside
Teaching new ways
Each word, winning them over
Each heart a kindled flame

Old men, watch from the outside
Guarding their prey
Threated by the voice of a paragon
Leading their lambs away
Leading them far away

Nobody knew His secret ambition
Nobody knew His claim to fame
He broke the old rules steeped in tradition
He tore the holy veil away
Questioning those in powerful positions
Running to those who called His name
But nobody knew His secret ambition
Was to give His life away

His rage, shaking the temple
His word to the wise
His hand, healing on the seventh day
His love wearing no disguise

Some say, death to the radical
He’s way out of line
Some say, praised be the miracle
God sends a blessed sign
A blessed sign for troubled times

Nobody knew His secret ambition
Nobody knew His claim to fame
He broke the old rules steeped in tradition
He tore the holy veil away
Questioning those in powerful positions
Running to those who called His name
But nobody knew His secret ambition
Was to give His life away…

Ohh… Oh… Oh…

Nobody knew His secret ambition
Nobody knew His claim to fame
He broke the old rules steeped in tradition
He tore the holy veil away
Questioning those in powerful positions
Running to those who called His name
But nobody knew His secret ambition
Was to give His life away

Oooohh…

No, no, no, no
I tell you nobody knew
Until He gave His life away
No!

THE NEXT TIME I FALL (DUET WITH AMY GRANT) - PETER CETERA

I absolutely love this song and always have.  Peter Cetera’s first solo number one single after his split from supergroup, Chicago, this unlikely pairing with a then, very Christian Amy Grant, is winning to say the least.  It’s a beautiful duet, with expert production by Michael Omartion.  This was the first of a string of duets that Peter Cetera recorded with hit female artists of the era, but none ever quite matched the beauty of this one.  A staple of adult contemporary music from the 80’s, it’s not to be missed as it sees the first hit single by two rising artists.  The 1986 production may sound dated, but they certainly don’t make em’ like this anymore.

Today I don’t feel like doing anything

What: Baggy “Michael W. Smith” Crewneck Sweater
Store: SOS Children’s Village Treasure Cottage Thrift Shop
Price: $1.50

Stumbled upon this funky sweater at a small thrift shop in Steveston. It’s simple and casual and I would wear it on one of those lazy, “I have finals, couldn’t really give less of a sh**” type of day Who would have thought some random Christian singer’s merch could be wearable. And for the price, how can you go wrong?

ABOVE ALL - Michael W. Smith

not 80’s but a great prayer

"Excited to be putting together 30th anniv. of Lie Down In The Grass CD and downloads package. Getting out the old 1/4 and 1/2” masters - remembering old friends and collaborators. 80s music! Drum machines aside, there was an interesting zeitgeist present in that music. It sounded very fresh today! Weird. Got a bunch of bonus cut surprises coming. Once we have all the technical stuff out of the way I’ll know more clearly when the release date will be."

Stryper – No More Hell to Pay via Amazon Prime

Today I checked out the new Amazon Prime Music. Since I already have a Prime account, I couldn’t resist seeing what they had. A perfect chance to check out albums I don’t already own and might not pay retail for. And while Stryper is a group of highly talented individuals, they aren’t a band I would add to my “must buy list”.

I got to meet and interview Michael Sweet at Jesus Northwest (in the…
